Edith rose to Heaven on March 14, 2014, while surrounded by her loving family. She was 95. She was born to Henry L. Wentz, and Katherine Mayhew Scott in 1918 in Collingswood, NJ. Edith married Lawrence “Larry” F. Coon and moved to Hyattsville, Maryland where they raised their family. After 70 years in Hyattsville, Edith and Larry moved to Frederick, Maryland. In 2012, the couple was recognized for their 74 years of marriage by the Frederick News Post, and the Marrage Resource Center of Frederick County. She was the loving wife of 76 years of Lawrence “Larry” F. Coon, beloved mother of Carolyn J.Kellock and her husband Hector Cruz, John L. Coon and his wife Janine, and Stephen G. Coon and his companion Anne Clay, cherished grandmother of Gwinne, Danny, James, Jessica, Melissa, Jenny, Katie, Shaun and Lindsey, and dear great-grandmother of Darian, Austin, Emma, Ryan, Jack, Gabby, Maddie and Riley. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John C. Wentz. Family and friends are invited to Edith’s Life Celebration at Gasch’s Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD on Saturday, March 22, 2014, from 1 pm until time of funeral service at 2 pm. Inurnment at a later date in Harleigh Cemetery, Collingswood, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made in her memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or the American Red Cross.
