Terry Harvey, 65, died March 2, 2013, with his family by his side in Washington D.C. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Terry had touched in some small way throughout his short, yet very memorable life. Terry was born on July 20, 1947 in Takoma Park, MD, the son of William and Florence Holliday. Throughout the years Terry lived his life as a builder; first with cars and motorcycles, then with woodworking, and finally with the dreams of his family. His strong hands and caring heart shaped and molded those around him in a way that made them better people. Terry is survived by his wife Betty who cared for him through the best and worst of times, his daughter Jennifer who he loved with all his heart, his fun-loving brothers Billy and Bobby, his son-in-law Jim, grandson William and many loving family members. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7 from 4 to 7 pm at Gasch’s Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Ave., Hyattsville, MD. The memorial services will be held on Friday, March 8 at 10 am at Gasch’s, followed by interment at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.

Evelyn L. Brown passed into the arms of her Lord on Good Friday, March 29, 2013. She died in her home surrounded by prayers and loving family members and friends. Her two grandsons each held their grandmother’s hand until the end, while at her feet and legs were family pets, Cassidy and Kiwi, caressing her from below. A special thanks to caregiver, Annette W. Lapont, for her vigilant care and love in the home. Evelyn was born May 22, 1919 in Champaign, Illinois to Carl and Jean Nydegger, formerly of College Park, MD. Her parents brought her and sister, Esther, to Washington, DC during the depression in hope of bettering the family. Evelyn opened her own beauty shop on Route 1 in Hyattsville. She later married Kenneth O. Brown of Hyattsville who was an engineer for the C&P Telephone Company. Ken retired from “Ma Bell” after 47 years of service. The Brown’s had two children, son Kenneth A. Brown and daughter Pamela J. Brown-Eaton. Ken and Evelyn were married for over 50 years. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Ken, who died of prostate cancer in December 1996. Son Ken and wife Diana, of Germantown, have two daughters, Michelle and Nicole, while daughter Pam and her husband, James W. Eaton, Sr. have two sons, James, Jr. (Jay) and Kenneth. Evelyn had five great grandchildren. Evelyn resided with her daughter’s family for over 15 years in Ijamsville. She enjoyed her 60 plus years in the Eastern Star. Evelyn also gained pleasure from making things with her hands. For decades she sewed uniforms for Chillum Adelphi VFD Majorettes and Drum Corps that was directed by her daughter, Pam, and son-in-law, Jim. Evelyn later put her talents into sewing infant garments and making yarn newborn hats and booties for Frederick Memorial Hospital and the rewarding work of Care Wear. In past years, Evelyn became involved with Monocacy Youth Charitable Organization, a non-profit group that supports the youth of Frederick County. A funeral service will be held on Easter Monday, April 1st, 2013 at 1pm at GASCH’S FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD. Pastor John Burns, lifelong pastor at University Baptist, will officiate. Burial will be next to her husband following the service at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Bladensburg, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to: Monocacy Youth Charitable Organization, 4202 Green Valley Road, Monrovia, MD 21770.
