On Friday, August 22, 2014, Arthur M. McKnew, Jr., passed away peacefully at his residence in Riverdale, MD with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Margaret M. McKnew (McGrain). Loving father of Mark T. (Ginny) McKnew, Colleen McKnew, Michael A. (Susan) McKnew, Marguerite D. McKnew Pippin, Daniel P. (Barbara) McKnew, Frank A. (Darlena) McKnew and Susan A. (Michael) McKnew Adams. Cherished grandfather of 27 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Devoted brother of Mary Baldwin, Louise Engelhardt, Roxsena Charise and Joanne Lodowski. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his children David and Noralee and his brother Richard McKnew and his son-in-law Robert Pippin. She is survived by her nieces, Shelley, Kathy, Marcie, Brenda, and Beth, and her nephew Clifford as well as several great-nieces and nephews, and numerous loving friends. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, as well as the Eastern Star, Adah Chapter, Member NO. 25. Of Crooksville, OH was born on March 24, 1926. She was recruited by the FBI in 1944 and moved to the Washington DC area. She met and married Norman Gilson who also worked at the Bureau and they settled in the DC Metropolitan area. Wanda was active with the Calvary Baptist Church of Washington, DC until she moved from her home in Hyattsville, MD to the Riderwood Village retirement home in Silver Spring, MD. She is survived by three children, Steven and Jerry Gilson of Greenbelt, MD and Janis (John) Bunch of Frederick, MD. She was preceded in death by her son, Randy and her husband Norman. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, September 6 at 11 am at the Chapel at Riderwood Village. Interment private.
